Our latest Clean Graffiti project took us down south to Columbia, South Carolina. We partnered with the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden for an in-house messaging solution.
Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is “home to more than 2,000 magnificent and fascinating animals and one of the nation’s most beautiful and inspiring botanical gardens. It is the mission of Riverbanks to foster appreciation and concern for all living things.”
In early summer 2016, their newest attraction, Waterfall Junction, opened to the public. This 3-acre interactive children’s garden “inspires exploration, imagination and nature play with tree houses, a dinosaur dig, streams, ponds and plenty of room to roam.” It is tucked away behind the beautiful Botanical Garden. In order to bring attention to zoo-goers that this family-friendly addition exists, the team at Riverbanks thought some innovative Clean Graffiti would be perfect to use.
“Clean Graffiti was an excellent fit with Riverbanks’ mission of conservation as a green and renewable way of advertising. It also allowed us to promote and advertise our newest attraction in the park without creating new signage. New signs not only aren’t recyclable but they also clutter the park and are often overlooked. Clean Graffiti afforded us the unique opportunity to take advantage of under utilized space and grab people’s attention with innovative advertising.. Right under their feet!” said Lochlan Wooten, Director of Marketing for Riverbanks Zoo & Garden.
#thesavageway traveled to Columbia, SC to execute the Clean Graffiti on the Riverbanks Zoo campus. Our land surveying usually doesn’t include lions and flamingos, so we were sure to take a moment and say hello to the animals.
We put down 12 Clean Graffiti spots around the zoo. The signs combined to say Waterfall Junction, Now Open, Explore.Imagine.Play, and we even added a fun water splash mark.
“Guests and staff alike have loved this installation; its innovative, fun and renewable- what could be better? It’s really been a lot of fun to watch people react to the different installations,” added Wooten.
The next time you’re enjoying some family time at the Riverbanks Zoo, make sure to head across the bridge to Waterfall Junction (there is no additional cost for this portion of the park). Pro tip: bring your swimsuit to splash around (it looks like so much fun).
Thank you to Lochlan and the Riverbanks Zoo team for being an awesome partner. We look forward to returning for the next installation!
