For three years, Charlotte Radiology and Levine Cancer Institute have partnered with NoDa Brewing Company to kick off their fundraising efforts for Breast Cancer Awareness month. This year, the 4th annual Pink Pint Night coincides with the grand opening of NoDa’s new (and much larger) location! Bring on the pink beer and the community support!
“Charlotte Radiology and Levine Cancer Institute launched our beneficiary program – Project PINK – six years ago, funding screenings and follow up care for uninsured women who lack access to early detection, through our Mobile Breast Center program,” said Shawna Plate, Senior project specialist at Charlotte Radiology. “A couple years into the program, it was apparent that it was making a true impact and we saw an opportunity to host a true community event to kick off breast cancer awareness month.”
Enter NoDa Brewing Company.
The object of Pink Pint Night is to raise money and awareness for the importance of breast cancer screenings. Did you know that 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime? (that’s astonishing). It is known that mammograms save lives. If breast cancer is detected before its spreads to lymph nodes or other parts of the body, the chance for a cure is nearly 100 percent.
This is also why Project Pink was created. There is now the ability to provide free breast cancer screenings and the necessary follow-up care to the underserved & uninsured, and hundreds of local women are impacted every year. Charlotte Radiology’s mobile breast center, in partnership with Levine Caner Institute, makes breast cancer screening more accessible and brings early detection right to the patient – in communities where the need is greatest.
This year, Pink Pint Night takes place on Thursday, October 1 from 4-8:30pm. This is also the first night that the new NoDa Brewing location will be open to the public (2921 N.Tryon Street).
*Note: This an ADDITIONAL location. NoDa’s current tap room will remain open for special beer releases, events & the popular Wednesday Run Club.
The event is FREE and open to the public and reservations are not required. If you were one of the lucky ones to get a VIP ticket, not only are you in for some exciting raffle prizes and swag, but you personally helped to fund the cost of one mammogram ($150). Featured on Pink Pint Night will be live music, yummy food from Tin Kitchen, OooWee BBQ & King of Pops and a special pink brew.
According to Charlotte Radiology, the best part of partnering with NoDa Brewing Company is “Hands down, their commitment to the cause,” said Plate. “NoDa makes a significant contribution of time and funding to Levine Cancer Institute: Project PINK through Pink Pint Night. They donate $.80 of each beer sold (representing the 1 in 8 women breast cancer diagnosis statistic) in addition to 100% of the pint glass sales.”
NoDa Brewing Company’s knack for bringing the community together to celebrate a great cause in the name of good beer makes this a great partnership. The increase of space at their new location is a GREAT sign for the growth of this annual fundraiser.
Come out & support an amazing cause for our community AND be one of the first to experience NoDa Brewing Company’s new location!
