Brixx Pizza Launches Creative Marketing Campaign

Brixx Pizza Launches Creative Marketing Campaign

We love when companies contact us to do something out of the box. When they want to create a fun and interactive campaign that brings attention to their brand in a different way, that’s the ticket. And that’s what Brixx Pizza decided to do.

Brixx Pizza opened their doors in 1998 in the historic Dilworth neighborhood in Charlotte, NC. By utilizing brick ovens to enhance the natural flavors of quality ingredients, Brixx has been able to successfully open 30 stores throughout the Southeast. Not only is their pizza delicious, but they have a huge heart for this community. Most recently, Brixx Pizza donated $10,000 to the Isabella Santos Foundation.

The Brixx Pizza team had us place random branded rocks around the city. The goal was to bring attention to their Charlotte locations and encourage the downloading of their Brixx Roxx app on iPhone and Android.

Brixx Pizza launched a creative marketing campaign using branded rocks to drive traffic to their 6 locations.

You Rock. Brixx Roxx. Let’s be friends.

Creative Marketing at it’s finest, by #thesavageway.

We placed red rocks with a branded message on it near these six Brixx Pizza locations:

Birkdale (16915 Birkdale Commons Pkwy)
Blakeney (9820 Rea Rd.)
Dilworth (1801 Scott Ave.)
Foxcroft (7814 Fairview Rd.)
Uptown (225 E. 6th St.)
Fort Mill, SC (1343 Broadcloth St.)

We placed these rocks in popular, high-foot traffic areas, think parks, shopping plazas, parking lots, etc. Anywhere your family might hang out for a minute, you could find a rock. (i.e. Harris Teeter entrances, Target parking lot, Starbucks planters, etc.)

Here’s how it works:

  1. Find a “Brixx Roxx” promo rock around one of the six Charlotte Brixx locations
  2. Download the Brixx Roxx app
  3. Bring the rock into your local Brixx location
  4. Get a free, yummy surprise

It’s that easy. So go out there, pizza lovers, and find yourself a rock. Let Brixx Pizza know how much you love their creative marketing idea!

Hello, 2019!

Hello, 2019!

2018 was a big year for us, and 2019 is going to be even bigger. In case you need an update on what exactly #thesavageway is up to these days, here is a little about us.

ELEVATOR PITCH

#thesavageway is the brainchild of two women: Torrie Savage and Paula Bartlett. Established in 2012, this creative duo has grown a business that flourishes on the unexpected in the marketing world. From Clean Graffiti to Moss Art, #thesavageway is anything but ordinary. Positive attitudes, earth-friendly and fun, this team will make your business standout.

We call ourselves a creative agency because what we do is highly creative. We love pushing ourselves to approach marketing in a different way. Our goal is to always create partnerships with our clients and to create fun, eye-catching campaigns or art that will create a buzz.

SERVICES

CLEAN GRAFFITI

If you live in or around Charlotte, you’ve definitely seen our Clean Graffiti work on the sidewalks. Using a stencil and a pressure washer, we create targeted marketing campaigns for clients in an untapped location – the sidewalk. These creative messages are made using only water – no bleach, no acid, no paint – It’s. Just. Water.

Here are some fast facts:

  • We have worked in over 55 cities including New York City, Boston, Portland, OR, New Orleans, and many more.
  • One of the campaigns we created for our partner OrthoCarolina, The Free Workout, is an award-winning marketing campaign by Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Society
  • We work in a variety of industries, but have seen huge success in the healthcare, public communication and development realms.
  • We are the leaders in the United States for reverse graffiti. Our duel marketing background allows us to create a fresh campaign from start to finish that correlates with other brand advertising initiatives and creates a full-circle plan.
  • Will travel anywhere in the USA!

MOSS ART

Moss Art is made by using preserved plants to bring a company logo or design element to life. And what we consistently hear from our clients is that they love that our product requires absolutely zero maintenance. That’s right…no watering, drainage or sunlight required!

Our Moss Art work spans both the corporate and residential realm, however, we find that the corporate side is our primary focus. We hold our clients’ hands from the beginning and guide them to what will be the best decision for their space.

Fast Facts:

  • We’ve created pieces for restaurants, hotels, law firms, finance firms, apartment complexes, CBD shops, coworking spaces, and events.
  • We’ve sent our work to New York, Texas, Wisconsin, Colorado, Alabama, Connecticut, Ohio and all over North Carolina.
  • Moss Art is maintenance-free – meaning it requires no water, light, drainage or ongoing care.
  • Moss is a natural humidity indicator.
  • All of our moss is handpicked and harvested.

CREATIVE MARKETING

What does Creative Marketing mean to us? Anything and everything. We are the people that you call when you have a crazy idea and you need someone to bring it to life. We LOVE when we get a random phone call that starts with… “#thesavageway was the first team that came to mind.”

We help with staffing promo teams, street teams, creating brand ambassadors, conceptualizing guerilla marketing tactics for large corporations, and developing robust out-of-the-box pitch ideas.

Fast Facts:

  • We have a fully staffed team ready to hit the streets at your event.
  • Our highly trained brand ambassadors are great representatives for your company.
  • We’ve created a roaming billboard bike for Charlotte Center City Partners
  • We have worked with Atrium Health (formerly Carolinas Healthcare System) on a month-long Cardiovascular outreach campaign.

We are #thesavageway. We’re not your typical creative house. We constantly push ourselves to think differently. We approach campaigns with different lenses. We are excited about what we do. And we want to work with companies that push the line. Brands that are looking to stand out, create a social buzz, and break out of the same-ole-same-ole are exactly who were are looking to partner with in 2019.

We’re jazzed up about our current projects. But more importantly, we’re ready for you!

Hello 2017! Meet #thesavageway

Hello 2017! Meet #thesavageway

Torrie & Paula of #thesavageway

Meet #thesavageway: Torrie Savage & Paula Bartlett seeking the good on a job in Boston, MA.

Meet #thesavageway

We’ve been in business since 2012. In the early days we focused on social media execution/training along with PR for local Charlotte businesses. From Papi Queso, Heist Brewery and Libretto’s Pizzeria to AIR Aerial Fitness and Cruise Carts, our client list was diverse and successful. However, while we were representing our clients during the day, at night we were creating something new and different – Clean Graffiti (or a clean message on a dirty sidewalk).

As we developed our core eco-friendly service, Clean Graffiti, we deliberately created a shift in our business. We began opening up our time for more Clean Graffiti work and slowly wrapping up our social media consulting clients. This shift happened over a few years, but now we are in a place where the services of #thesavageway reflect our passions.

We still consult and guide local businesses from time to time, but we only accept a handful as clients. And the ones we choose to work with, we wholeheartedly believe in what they stand for as a company.

So what is #thesavageway?
We are a creative marketing agency. We seek clients who are willing to think big and entrust us with their message.
We cultivate creativity in nature. Whether it is dirt and concrete or moss and recycled wood, we find the beauty in the outdoors and turn it into a creative marketing campaign.
We are a lifestyle. Our outlook on life, the future, health, food and relationships – they all revolve around compassion and living colorfully. We seek the good in all things and desire for you to as well.

So hello! We’re Paula Bartlett (that’s me – I write this blog) and Torrie Savage. 2017 is going to be a great year and we hope that you follow along. Expect to see some fun reverse graffiti campaigns (across many cities), lots of yummy plant based food, dancing videos, laughter and other shenanigans. Oh and be sure to follow our Instagram page – that’s where all the fun really happens 🙂

The Isabella Santos Foundation exists so that other children and their families will one day not have to deal with this awful childhood cancer. They are fighting to #BeatGrowLive.

This event is all about men (and women) raising awareness about rape and gender violence by walking a mile in heels. To quote Charlotte’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes ® flyer, “In spirit of the old saying “you can’t understand someone’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes,” Walk a Mile in Her Shoes ® literally asks men to walk a mile in women’s high heeled shoes. The event is a playful and fun opportunity for men to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes and effects of sexualized violence.”

modPALEO Offers Healthy Meal Delivery

We’ve been working with our client, modPALEO, for several months now. We’ve eaten their delicious food and we’ve been able to experience this healthy meal delivery first hand. Learn a little more about modPALEO and the awesome things they have planned for January.

modPALEO is a Carolinas-based, packaged meal service that offers a modern approach to healthy eating, based on the Paleo lifestyle. modPALEO believes in maintaining balance and wellness through the power of real food, well-sourced ingredients and sustainability. To top it off, they now offer Nationwide Delivery! (that’s right, healthy meals on-the-go whether you are traveling or live in Omaha, NE.)

Their food satisfies both the meat lover (Torrie) & the vegetarian (Paula). Dishes range from Pot Roast with Braised Roots & Greens to a delicious Mushroom Loaf with Gingered Carrots. Check out some of their mouth-watering food below.

One of the most impressive things about the modPALEO product is the conscious decision to purchase product from responsibly-sourced, grass-fed, grass-finished farms. In fact, in 2014, modPALEO spent of $250,000 on Charlotte regional farms.

WHY THIS MATTERS

You know the old saying, “You are what you eat,” well modPALEO likes to say, “You are what you eat eats.” It’s true that whether you are consuming animals or animal byproducts (cheese, butter, eggs). How that animal is raised and treated matters to your health. The farms that modPALEO focuses on sourcing from are small scale producers. Majority of all proteins and most produce are grown in the Carolinas or nearby Georgia (some grassfed beef comes from out west, but the focus is on regional farms). The beef and pork are always grassfed, grass-finished and/or pasture raised. Sustainable practices are key – and these farming environments are free of antibiotics, pesticides and hormones.

Charlotte Regional Farms Used:

HICKORY NUT GAP FARMS
FIRSTHAND FOODS
WILD TURKEY FARMS
SPRINGER MOUNTAIN FARMS
EASTERN CAROLINA ORGANICS (ECO)
BARBEE FARMS
ROSEMARY PETE
TEGA HILLS FARM
PUT A FORK IN IT
BOY & GIRL FARMS
WINDCREST FARMS
ROWLAND’S ROW
BREWINGTON FARM
ANSON MILLS
THE NAKED TART

Why #thesavageway Digs modPALEO:

PAULA: “I am not Paleo and never will be. I am a vegetarian who loves to cook, yet I still find a huge benefit by incorporating modPALEO meals into my routine. Having a clean, healthy meal in my fridge or freezer at any given moment allows me to make a better choice. modPALEO is helping me to stay on a healthy track.”

TORRIE: “I have eaten Paleo off an on for a few years and when I am doing good – man, can I feel it! Eating Paleo is not some crazy diet… It’s simply a way of eating clean and responsibly. It’s not just for crossfitters either! Once you are educated about truly eating Paleo it’s hard to ignore that knowledge and go back to eating without consciousness. modPALEO has been a dream come true by having a quick, truly healthy meal in my fridge or freezer. ”

Keeping it Clean in 2016

As the New Year approaches, we will all be making those New Years Resolutions (and likely seeing them fall to the wayside within a few weeks). Well, modPALEO had come up with a way to keep those goals of eating healthy in 2016 a reality. For a limited time (December 26 – December 30) you will be able to purchase the Keepin’ It Clean 30 day package for a discount.

Packages:

“Keepin’ it Clean in 2016” package includes 4 weeks of modPALEO meals purchased upfront (*there’s a discount) for the month of January. You choose how many meals and we will deliver 4 orders throughout the month (deliveries on January 6, 13, 20 and 27). Shipping and tax are included in pricing. OK, 2016… Let’s Do This!

There is Plenty of Value at Value Village

There is Plenty of Value at Value Village

#thesavageway team loves a good bargain. Recently, we had the opportunity to hit up two Value Village locations in search of some hidden gems. Now, thrifting and second-hand shopping is nothing new to either of us (Torrie or Paula), however this trip was our first to visit the new Value Village location on Independence Blvd. We found so many amazing finds, and plenty of value at Value Village!

Upon walking in, the first thing we noticed was the cleanliness and organized appearance of the store. We also noticed that a discount was being offered that day on blue tags. (In fact, a different discount is offered everyday – simply look for the color on the poster!)

Sections were broken up into accessories, furniture, clothing, books, toys, shoes, etc. There really was a little bit of everything here! We walked in not necessarily having an end goal. We were exploring and seeing what jumped out at us. Value Village provided some nice thrifting tips to help for a better experience.

  • Don’t Go in With Expectations (True, you never know what you are going to find!)
  • Be Patient (Great piece of advice. If you are looking for something in particular, visit often and there is a chance you will snag it for cheap!)
  • Familiarize Yourself with Good Brands / Look for Vintage (This is clutch – look for pieces that will have longevity and are of good quality!)
  • Bring a Bag (Value Village does provide carts, but carrying a reusable tote is perfect to load up in store & when you leave)

WHY THRIFTING IS IMPORTANT
There are a million reasons why hitting up the thrift store is a great decision. It helps you stay within budget, recycle & repurpose old clothes, contribute less to new textile production and reduce landfill waste.

DID YOU KNOW:

  • An estimated 13.1 million tons of textile waste is generated in the US alone each year? Only as estimated 15% of that material is captured for reuse of recycling.
  • Average person creates 70 pounds of textile waste each year.
  • 1 pound of textile waste produces 7 pounds of CO2. That is approximately 91.7 Million Tons of CO2 generated each year. (Textiles are one of the largest CO2 emitting waste streams)

DONATION OF OLD CLOTHES
While we do create far too much textile waste, there is a small solution to help reduce that waste stream. Carolina Value Village works alongside the National Kidney Foundation as their chosen non-profit. Through the charitable organization National Kidney Services, Value Village is able to go out into the community, pick up people’s unwanted textiles and then give a percentage of those sales to the National Kidney Foundation. Awesome!

NoDa Brewing Opens 2nd Location with Pink Pint Night

NoDa Brewing Opens 2nd Location with Pink Pint Night

For three years, Charlotte Radiology and Levine Cancer Institute have partnered with NoDa Brewing Company to kick off their fundraising efforts for Breast Cancer Awareness month. This year, the 4th annual Pink Pint Night coincides with the grand opening of NoDa’s new (and much larger) location! Bring on the pink beer and the community support!

“Charlotte Radiology and Levine Cancer Institute launched our beneficiary program – Project PINK – six years ago, funding screenings and follow up care for uninsured women who lack access to early detection, through our Mobile Breast Center program,” said Shawna Plate, Senior project specialist at Charlotte Radiology. “A couple years into the program, it was apparent that it was making a true impact and we saw an opportunity to host a true community event to kick off breast cancer awareness month.”

Enter NoDa Brewing Company.

Pink Pint Night is October 1 at NoDa Brewing Company.

Pink Pint Night is October 1 at NoDa Brewing Company.

The object of Pink Pint Night is to raise money and awareness for the importance of breast cancer screenings. Did you know that 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime? (that’s astonishing). It is known that mammograms save lives. If breast cancer is detected before its spreads to lymph nodes or other parts of the body, the chance for a cure is nearly 100 percent.

This is also why Project Pink was created. There is now the ability to provide free breast cancer screenings and the necessary follow-up care to the underserved & uninsured, and hundreds of local women are impacted every year. Charlotte Radiology’s mobile breast center, in partnership with Levine Caner Institute, makes breast cancer screening more accessible and brings early detection right to the patient – in communities where the need is greatest.

This year, Pink Pint Night takes place on Thursday, October 1 from 4-8:30pm. This is also the first night that the new NoDa Brewing location will be open to the public (2921 N.Tryon Street).
*Note: This an ADDITIONAL location. NoDa’s current tap room will remain open for special beer releases, events & the popular Wednesday Run Club.

The event is FREE and open to the public and reservations are not required. If you were one of the lucky ones to get a VIP ticket, not only are you in for some exciting raffle prizes and swag, but you personally helped to fund the cost of one mammogram ($150). Featured on Pink Pint Night will be live music, yummy food from Tin Kitchen, OooWee BBQ & King of Pops and a special pink brew.

According to Charlotte Radiology, the best part of partnering with NoDa Brewing Company is “Hands down, their commitment to the cause,” said Plate. “NoDa makes a significant contribution of time and funding to Levine Cancer Institute: Project PINK through Pink Pint Night. They donate $.80 of each beer sold (representing the 1 in 8 women breast cancer diagnosis statistic) in addition to 100% of the pint glass sales.”

NoDa Brewing Company’s knack for bringing the community together to celebrate a great cause in the name of good beer makes this a great partnership. The increase of space at their new location is a GREAT sign for the growth of this annual fundraiser.

Come out & support an amazing cause for our community AND be one of the first to experience NoDa Brewing Company’s new location!
