Clean Graffiti for Open Streets 704 Event

Clean Graffiti for Open Streets 704 Event

On May 1, 2016, the City of Charlotte will open the city streets from NoDa to Memorial Stadium so that people can play, run, sing, play music and dance in the streets. That’s right – no cars, no worries.

Open Streets 704 “aims to build a better, healthier, connected community by encouraging Charlotte and Mecklenburg area residents to walk, bicycle, and experience the city together in a way that’s just not possible in a car.” Our friends at Well-Run Media have been working hard to spread the word about this inaugural Charlotte initiative. We were lucky enough to once again partner with DC and his wonderful team along with the Mecklenburg County Parks & Recreation Department for another round of Clean Graffiti.

This initiative is brought to the people of Charlotte through a grant from the Knight Foundation and in partnership with Partners for Parks, Mecklenburg County Government, City of Charlotte Department of Transportation, Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation, The Mecklenburg County Health Department and the support of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police & Fire Departments.

So Save the Date.
Check out the route here.
Start spreading the word.
Call your friend and make plans to bike that day.
Open Streets: May 1, 2016 from 12-4pm.

And if you see some Clean Graffiti while hanging with your pup at the park, take a pic and let us know what you’re going to do in the streets on May 1.

#SouthEndHopsFest Uses Clean Graffiti

#SouthEndHopsFest Uses Clean Graffiti

We love it when a brand or company sees Clean Graffiti for all that it can be – ART. Yes, it is an innovative outdoor messaging alternative and captures your target demos attention in a new and different way, but it is also a chance to create some beautiful artwork. That is exactly what Shawn Cosner and the Third Rock Events crew decided to do for the South End Hops Fest on May 14, 2016.

Clean Graffiti by #thesavageway for South End Hops Fest.

Clean Graffiti by #thesavageway for South End Hops Fest.

For this particular Clean Graffiti campaign, #thesavageway created some beautiful hops and leaves on the ground reminiscent of the delicious beer that will be consumed during the festival. The incorporation of the event hashtag, #SouthEndHopsFest, lets passersby know where to find more information on all of the social media portals.

Moss Art in 2015

Moss Art in 2015

Here at #thesavageway we are always crafting up new and different ways to spread the word. From Clean Graffiti and social media takeovers to other non-traditional marketing tactics, we push ourselves to think outside the box.

In 2015, we launched Moss Art as another service line. Moss Art is a way to bring a natural element indoors – with no maintenance! Our interior art installations are created with preserved moss to bring your logo or a favorite phrase to life! Moss Art is eye catching, innovative and a perfect signage solution for your company. Below is a peek at the clients that used Moss Art in 2015.

Cruise Carts
Cruise Carts decided to use Moss Art as signage. Cruise Carts is an eco-friendly, advertiser-driven free golf cart ride. Bringing a natural element inside the office was a perfect fit for this green company.

#SkylineCLT
#SkylineCLT was an initiative of Crescent Communities to take an old building in Uptown Charlotte and turn it into a collaborative artist space for the months leading up to its renovation. The PR agency, Yellow Duck Marketing, and the event planning company, Jen Leigh Events, decided to use Moss Art as functional signage. By creating the hashtag in moss, we were telling people what conversation to join online when posting to social media.

Breathe Refuge
Jonathan Winn, of Breathe Refuge, wanted to bring an element of serenity and nature to his studio space in NoDa, the historic arts district of Charlotte, NC. This Moss Art was the perfect solution. We created this artwork on repurposed wood to create a unique touch.

Private Resident Art
One of our dear friends and supporters, Blair Primis of OrthoCarolina, had the vision to create his longitude/latitude in moss. These floating numbers were fun to create and it definitely added a unique, natural touch to this Uptown Charlotte residence.

AIR Aerial Fitness
This AIR Aerial Fitness logo is a great representation of how awesome Moss Art can be for a client. This piece is over 3 feet in diameter and a statement piece in the AIR studio in Myers Park. Franchise owner Shama Patel even said via Instagram, “I just had the craziest thought – a logo I designed years ago without any second thought is being recreated in such a beautiful way. It’s like your creation just gave meaning to my life’s work.” (awesome – we’ll take it)

Stars
A beautiful thing about Moss Art is how endless the possibilities are for application. We LOVE creating simple, stunning wall pieces like these stars. They are perfect to add nature to your office or home. They will spark conversation and have everyone asking you where you found such unique pieces of art.

Moss Art is perfect for interior design, logos, event installations, typography, signage and as functional art. We look forward to bringing this art form to a new level in 2016 and to keep pushing that creative line.

Clean Graffiti in 2015

Clean Graffiti in 2015

2015 was a huge year for #thesavageway Clean Graffiti! Our eco-friendly, outdoor messaging was used in 11 cities for 21 clients! 2015 saw the growth of our sales team in NYC and in the Southeast. From creating reverse graffiti campaigns for some of the largest organizations in the world to working with the North Carolina government on a safety campaign, we saw this medium grow and evolve! Here is a breakdown of our year in cleaning sidewalks.

Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Department
We love seeing organizations use Clean Graffiti for the healthy, insightful medium that it can be. Well Run Media and the Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Department used Clean Graffiti to promote tobacco free parks!

Greenpeace
We created a campaign for the Global organization, Greenpeace, in the spring of 2015 to promote solar power. Using a stencil with two footprints and the hashtag #IStand4Solar, Greenpeace was able to see results through third party content on social media.

Clarks, USA
Ever have a pair of Clarks Wallabees growing up? We did and that made working with Clarks, USA an even bigger deal. This international fashion brand used Clean Graffiti in SoHo, New York, NY to showcase the location of their flagship store. The detail that went into recreating the vintage Clarks Desert Boot in stencil form was one for the books!

NC Department of Transportation
One of our favorite jobs was for the NC Department of Transportation. We worked alongside the marketing agency for the NCDOT and integrated Clean Graffiti into their Watch For Me NC campaign. Clean Graffiti safety messages were used across six NC beach towns to act as a reminder to pedestrians and bikers to watch for cars! The six cities included Jacksonville, NC, Greensboro, NC, Durham, NC, Corolla County, NC, Dare County, NC, and Surf City, NC.

Carolina Performing Arts
We made our first trip to Chapel Hill, NC during our Clean Graffiti job for Carolina Performing Arts. The artistic design and kaleidoscope whimsy used for the message truly made the spots stand out! We want to see more companies use Clean Graffiti as street art!

Isabella Santos Foundation
Another one of our favorites in 2015 was working with the Isabella Santos Foundation. This Charlotte, NC based non-profit uses running to raise money for pediatric cancer research. If you don’t know about Isabella’s story, read here. Putting her image on the ground was such a great reminder to the #IsabellasDreamTeam as they were training.

NC Music Factory
The Charlotte area entertainment hub known, as the NC Music Factory, used some funny and clever messages to help get across the message that the Factory offers not only great music venues, but delicious restaurants as well.

OrthoCarolina
OrthoCarolina was an early adopter of Clean Graffiti and has run many campaigns; however one of the smartest campaigns to date still has to be the run we did using “Watch Your Step.” These spots can be seen in Charlotte as well as Concord, NC.

Project Art Aid / Project LIFT
2015 saw the completion of our Project Art Aid Queen City Soup / Project L.I.F.T. art grant with West Charlotte High School in Charlotte, NC. Teaching the students about the medium and then having them help bring the stencil to life was an awesome experience.

Hooker Media / OrthoCarolina
We also got creative with OrthoCarolina and their relationship as the Carolina Panthers team physicians. We brought in local Charlotte, NC artist Matt Hooker of Hooker Media to design a stencil representing the move that the quarterback uses for touchdowns – the Superman. These spots went down in Winston Salem, NC.

S&D Coffee
One unique way to use reverse graffiti is through a social media contest, like S&D Coffee did for their partnership with Johnson & Wales University located in Uptown Charlotte, NC. Students had to find the spots, snap a picture, use the hashtag and then they were entered to win $5,000!
