The Moss Art Workshop Brings Nature to Corporate Spaces

THE GOAL
We want to spread the knowledge we’ve acquired over the years about the benefits of nature and creating with your hands. We see the direct benefit of what putting your phone away and physically creating something can do for mood, morale and overall contentment with the day.

Biophilia is “the innate, genetically-driven human tendency to seek connections with nature, plants, animals, and lifelike processes. The concept suggests that our affinity for the natural world is deeply rooted in our evolutionary history and essential for our mental and physical well-being.” Simply hanging Moss Art in your home can bring calming effects. Another way to incorporate nature into your interior design is through wood accents, flowing water, indoor plants, colors of the earth like green, blue, brown, clay, etc.

We have another Faux Greenery project to share. We worked with the folks at Collet & Associates and Warco Construction to bring you this gorgeous Faux Greenery wall at the Collet Capital location in Midtown, Charlotte, NC. This is 61 sqft of lush faux plants next to a wood slat wall in their common area. Since our typical preserved Moss Art was not the desired end aesthetic goal, we were able to offer this alternative solution to a full green wall moment.
We love the use of Faux Foliage panels to bring even more elements of biophilic design into the space. Our faux greenery product is made from plastic plants that are A-Class fire-rated and UV protected, that means you get all of the visual benefits of a ‘living plant wall’ without the need for natural light, a maintenance schedule or drainage. The use of greenery in any space brings such an element of grounding and joy to the people that work there. We love how the mixture of wood elements, greenery and calming blue paint cohesively work together to create a modern workspace that is enviable. The more that we work with these faux greenery materials, the more we appreciate how plants (even when they are artificial) can elevate and change the energy of a space.
This particular project is showcasing how our Faux Greenery walls can look next to sleek millwork panels…and it is beyond gorgeous. However, it is also fun to note that a square or rectangle shape is not the only moment we can create. More biophilic design elements can come to life in the form of planters, hanging plants from the ceiling, etc. We have a ton of both fire-rated and non-fire-rated options to suit your style (and budget). Biophilic Design Incorporated into Exterior Design
Recently, we had the opportunity to bring a moment of calm to Truist’s outdoor atrium space. We created an outdoor Faux Greenery wall using an A-Class fire-rated and UV protected product. That means Truist gets all of the aesthetic benefits of a ‘living plant wall’ without the need for natural light, a maintenance schedule or drainage.
For Truist Bank, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, we’ve had the pleasure of creating several moments of biophilic design for the interior corporate offices. Check out the 40′ preserved Moss Art wall we created for them. If you are not familiar, Biophilic Design blends someone’s innate attraction to nature and living things into architecture and interior design. Many modern workspaces seek to integrate biophilic design strategies and the nature-forward approach into their design plans for a variety of reasons; improving employees’ quality of life, meeting sustainability goals and increasing productivity and creativity.
This outdoor wall was a great solution to bringing some of that biophilia to the atrium of the building when Moss Art was not an option. Moss Art is an indoor only product (as it can’t withstand the changing elements). However, this Faux Greenery was the perfect way to incorporate everything we love about preserved plant walls while being outside. It creates a moment for both employees and passersby. In a chaotic world, any moment to pause and take in a sense of calm is well worth it in our opinion.

The project covered 110 sqft of space and looks lovely in the background of the Uptown Charlotte landscape. The use of additional purple foliage helps to bring together the branding elements of Truist. It is a subtle nod to their brand but an important one for brand recognition.

The Savage Way has been creating custom Moss Art for almost a decade now. We create everything from 70′ long moss walls in a corporate lobby to a small moss logo in a coffee shop. No matter the size, the fusion of art and nature is something that fuels us as artists. There is something magical about the beautiful dance of color, texture, and use of nature to enhance a space. This “thing” actually has an industry term called Biophilic Design.
