This is the second year that we’ve been lucky enough to work with the Isabella Santos Foundation, a non-profit fighting neuroblastoma. As in previous years, we were able to use Clean Graffiti to help promote their 9th annual 5K/10K for Kids Cancer on September 24, 2016 and push people to #BeatGrowLive.

Our Clean Graffiti went down throughout popular running areas in Charlotte, NC. Having an opportunity to work alongside this passionate and inspiring group has been amazing. Even better is we were able to take Isabella’s words, #BeatGrowLive, and translate them into Clean Graffiti artwork.

Isabella Santos Foundation 5K / 10K for Kids Cancer is on 9.24.16. #thesavageway
Isabella Santos fought a tough battle with neuroblastoma during her short years on this earth. She & her family had to navigate a foreign territory (cancer) that no family should have to travel. While her time was cut way too short, she left a legacy behind. You see, she had three wishes for her life: beat cancer, grow hair and live her dreams. The Isabella Santos Foundation exists so that other children and their families will one day not have to deal with this awful childhood cancer. They are fighting to #BeatGrowLive.

We’ve partnered with OrthoCarolina on a number of projects over the years. You may remember our motivational running messages, Panthers football campaign and #WalkCLT in Plaza Midwood. However, our latest initiative, #CLTFreeWorkout, is definitely one of the most interactive and community building campaigns that we’ve ever created.

The starting location of the #CLTFreeWorkout in the Wilmore neighborhood of Charlotte. #thesavageway
#CLTFreeWorkout is a Clean Graffiti campaign that utilizes the sidewalks to guide a series of FREE body-weight exercises in six different areas of town. Those areas include Sedgefield, NoDa, Dilworth, West Charlotte, Cherry and Wilmore. Click here for maps.
OrthoCarolina is a huge proponent of building community and promoting health & wellness in the greater Charlotte area. When we approached the Vice President of Marketing, Blair Primis, with an idea to create pop-up style workout stations, he lit up in excitement.
“I thought the idea was brilliant,” said Primis, “and my immediate response was that we will make this happen. Done.”
We worked with OrthoCarolina physician, Aaron Hewitt, to create safe, easy-to-learn exercises that could be turned into a full body workout. The exercises include Air Squats, Arm Circles, Push-ups, Lunges, Jumping Jacks & Plank – repeat 5x. Instructional videos can be found here on www.cltfreeworkout.com.

Using Clean Graffiti for a healthy initiative in the Charlotte, NC area. #thesavageway
One of the greatest elements of #CLTFreeWorkout is that we created a hashtag with the campaign. Now, whenever people are out doing the workout (whether they planned it or they stumbled upon it on a daily run), they can post a picture to social media and use #CLTFreeWorkout. We are able to track & see how many people are interacting with this healthy initiative.

A screen shot of the hashtag #CLTFreeWorkout on Instagram showcases community involvement. #thesavageway
Now that the campaign is launched, our client is seeing the results. “We’re thrilled,” said Primis. “The community has embraced it and are out there getting the workouts in. So cool to see.”
You can check out more coverage from our awesome city-wide campaign in the Charlotte Observer article, Charlotte Agenda feature, Charlotte Five coverage or this news clip from WCNC. Hopefully we will see this awesome initiative in other cities soon!

#thesavageway had the privilege of creating some Clean Graffiti for David Weekley Homes and their Central Living Charlotte locations. David Weekly Homes is a part of the Charlotte community and they are building some new properties in the South End area of town including Iverson, Ideal & Carson.

Clean Graffiti for David Weekley Homes in Charlotte, NC – #thesavageway
The spots were put down in the Historic South End area of Charlotte, NC and included a positive message, “Love Where You Live” and a fun representation of the Charlotte skyline.

New Love Where You Live Clean Graffiti by #thesavageway in Charlotte, NC.
David Weekley Homes has been “building in Charlotte-area suburbs for nearly 20 years, but (they) recognize that life in these areas is not for every Homebuyer. The Central Living communities offer the right home for your lifestyle and low-maintenance living while minimizing your home’s footprint. Enjoy the proximity to everything you’re already familiar with, such as a variety of entertainment, shopping and dining, and easy access to sporting venues, cultural landmarks and area employers.”

It’s been fun to have people send us texts, snap chat messages and post on their social media when they see a Clean Graffiti spot. The fact that you can only see these spots when you are walking around the neighborhood makes it awesome for targeted messaging. Here are a few snaps that we received for the Love Where You Live Campaign.

Charlotte, NC is becoming an awesome cultural hub for museum exhibitions, music, dance, and street art. In May of this year, the arts scene was taken to another level when the #LongLiveArts Free Community Festival took place in Uptown.

The New Levine Center for the Arts logo / initiative that launched earlier this spring.
Levine Center for the Arts hosted this first-of-its-kind collaboration. Levine Center for the Arts is “one of Charlotte’s major cultural destinations, home to Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, John S. and James L. Knight Theater, and Mint Museum Uptown. The Center was made possible through the support of the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, Campaign for Cultural Facilities, and The Leon Levine Foundation, one of the country’s largest and most impactful philanthropic organizations, along with the generosity of Bank of America Foundation, Wells Fargo Foundation, and Duke Energy Foundation, among many others.”
#thesavageway was able to join in this collaboration of the arts community by creating some Clean Graffiti for the #LongLiveArts initiative.

These spots can be found throughout the Plaza Midwood, NoDa & South End neighborhoods of the Queen City. While the Clean Graffiti was placed in promotion of this FREE community festival, the message lives on and will continue to ring true in this beautiful city.

driveway art® is an extension of #thesavageway’s commercial Clean Graffiti service. If you’re not familiar with Clean Graffiti, it is the process of putting a clean message on a dirty sidewalk. You can click here for examples.
