The Peoples Clubs Uses Clean Graffiti During the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte, NC.
The Wells Fargo Championship is a big deal in professional golf and this week it returns to Charlotte, NC after a one-year hiatus. Having the PGA descend upon the Queen City always creates a buzz. It brings the pros to Quail Hollow Country Club, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, and Phil Mickelson. Read more on the top 10 things to watch for this year.
We had the opportunity to create a Clean Graffiti campaign surrounding this prestigious golf tournament. We worked with The Peoples Clubs, a full service online golf store, to help spread the word about their business. This highly targeted campaign was a great way to get in front of their audience in an unexpected way, the sidewalk. The Clean Graffiti went down on the walking paths to the Wells Fargo Championship.

Clean Graffiti for Piedmont Opera, Pirates of Penzance showing in Winston-Salem, NC
We had the honor of creating some Clean Graffiti for Piedmont Opera in Winston-Salem, NC. The reverse graffiti was used to help promote an upcoming show, the Pirates of Penzance. The show is running this Friday, March 23 at 8pm, Sunday, March 25 at 2pm, and Tuesday, March 27 at 7:30pm at The Stevens Center of the UNCSA (405 4th St NW Winston-Salem, NC 27101). Tickets & additional information can be found here.
Our Clean Graffiti was used as an alternative to other outdoor advertising options. It’s different, eye-catching and co-friendly. We use a specialized stencil & high-pressure water to make a contrast in the dirt. The message that is left behind is not only highly-targeted, but it is a beautiful contrast in mother nature.

Tickets for the show are still on sale. Check out Pirates of Penzance at the Piedmont Opera this weekend.
We love the city of Winston-Salem and have had the privilege of doing some great Clean Graffiti projects there; The OrthoCarolina Free Workout and mammogram reminders for Novant Health to name a few. This Piedmont Opera job allowed us to promote the arts (and we absolutely love that!). If you go see the show this weekend, keep an eye out for our Clean Graffiti skull & crossbones around town.

Clean Graffiti, New Orleans, LA for Truly Good Foods. #thesavageway
New Market for Clean Graffiti, New Orleans
As a company, we have done Clean Graffiti work in over 50 cities, including New York, Boston, Portland, Vancouver, Richmond and all over North Carolina. We are on a mission to bring our innovative marketing tactic to more cities and more clients. So when we got the call to travel to Louisiana for a new job, we were elated. A new market opened up for Clean Graffiti, New Orleans.
We partnered with Truly Good Foods, a women-owned business specializing in snack foods, to help promote one of their clients at a food show. Buffalo Nuts was exhibiting at the NOLA Convention Center for the 2017 PMA Summit and they wanted to stand out from all of the other participants. Enter Clean Graffiti.
Our Clean Graffiti spots are eco-friendly messages using only dirty concrete and high-pressure water. Yep – it’s just water. We put down the reverse graffiti spots around all of the hotels and main thoroughfares where the conference attendees would be going. These ten spots had the message, “ Snack Bold.” @TrulyGoodFoods PMA Booth #4008. “Snack Bold” is not only Buffalo Nuts tagline, but it was eye catching on the ground. The Clean Graffiti message also indicated their social media handle and location in the Convention Center. Using Clean Graffiti for a Trade Show Convention was a great guerrilla marketing tactic for the retail company.
New Orleans was the perfect city for Clean Graffiti. #thesavageway
New Orleans, a city with great dirt for Clean Graffiti. #thesavageway
This was the first trip to New Orleans for both of us (personally or professionally). And talk about a city with some history. We loved walking around the Garden District, Frenchmen Street, seeing all of the random parades and just taking in all of the historic sites. The first thing we said when we arrived in the Central Business District was, “ Holy crap New Orleans has some good dirt!!” (seems like a random fact to notice, but in our line of work, we are always on the lookout for beautiful, dirty cities.
New Orleans is proving to be hot market for us and our Clean Graffiti adventures. We look forward to continuing to bring our unconventional marketing tactic to The Big Easy.
See you soon New Orleans! Love, #thesavageway

Clean Graffiti for the Carolina Panthers promoting Greg Olsen for Walter Payton Man of the Year. #thesavageway
The Carolina Panthers marketing team is always pushing the creative line with their social media and advertising campaigns. So when they approached us about a second round of Clean Graffiti, we knew that the campaign had to be something eye-catching and totally different than anything that we’ve done thus far. (Their first campaign was pretty awesome and made a big social media splash in the sports world.) And their team did not disappoint. We were challenged with putting Greg Olsen’s face on the ground in Clean Graffiti. (Seriously!)
This was no small task and we tested our template quite a bit before we were happy with the results. But man were we proud of the creative design that we were able to achieve with merely water and dirt. It was pretty awesome to see Panthers QB Cam Newton and Coach Ron Rivera wear a t-shirt that was a replica of the reverse graffiti that we put around Charlotte, NC.

Greg Olsen is a finalist for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. #thesavageway
The campaign surrounded the promotion of Greg Olsen as the Walter Payton Man of the Year Finalist. Olsen does some amazing work in the Charlotte community (which you can read about here). We were honored to help get the word out in a new and creative way. Olsen made it to the top three finalists and the winner will be announced during NFL Honors, a two-hour prime-time awards special to air nationally on Feb. 3, the eve of Super Bowl LII.

Clean Graffiti for NoDa Yoga in Charlotte, NC. #thesavageway
NoDa Yoga is one of those spaces that immediately brings you a sense of peace and calmness. Not only is it a yoga studio based in the historic arts district of NoDa in Charlotte, NC, but it is a safe and beautiful place to get lost in yourself and your yoga practice.
When NoDa Yoga approached us about doing some Clean Graffiti, we knew that we needed to get out a message that truly represented this studio. We attended some classes and soon realized that the quote that lives over their front desk would make the perfect Clean Graffiti message. “Get out of your head, and into your heart.” Simple. Meaningful.
After some fun design work, we came up with this lotus flower to accompany the quote, which is an homage to the two murals in their main space at 3201 N Davidson St (upstairs). These Clean Graffiti spots went down around the NoDa, Plaza Midwood, Villa Heights areas of Charlotte, NC.
We absolutely love how they turned out. And people are loving them too. Here are a sample of the Instagram posts that we’ve been tagged in.

NoDa Yoga utilized our eco-friendly sidewalk messaging in the perfect way. The reverse graffiti message / image is a core value that reverberates across the studio, every single teacher and NoDa Yoga’s online message. By tapping into this side of the studio (instead of a sales messaged), people were able to relate and appreciate the Clean Graffiti spots. They are inspiring and authentic to their brand.

In June of 2017, #thesavageway was hired to do Clean Graffiti in Portland, OR & Vancouver, WA. We worked with HMH Agency for their client the Trimet, the public transportation system of Portland & Vancouver, to bring awareness to their new fast pass payment system. This blog details our trip!
Flying into one of the most beautiful cities, Portland, OR, to do some Clean Graffiti work. #DreamJob
This summer, Torrie & I had the chance to travel across the country to do some Clean Graffiti for our client, HMH Agency. Let me say that again, we travelled over 2,700 miles to complete eco-friendly advertising in one of the most beautiful places on Earth! I still have a hard time believing this is reality.
Portland, OR had been on my personal bucket list since high school and it has been on our professional bucket list for at least 4 years. The culture, nature, the vegan food (!), the dirt & mold (perfect for Clean Graffiti) – Portland seemed like such an oasis.
When we finally booked the job, not only were we excited to travel, but we could not have been more excited for the initiative that it supported. We were supporting the Trimet, Oregon’s public transportation system, and their Hop Fast Pass program that was launching in Fall 2017. By using Clean Graffiti in Portland, OR, we were able to communicate with an over-stimulated public in a subtle, relatable way. We placed the Clean Graffiti spots around popular bus stops and light rail stops.
We used 4 different stencils that featured ” The Spokesblob” of the Trimet. This character was already being used in other outdoor media buys; billboards, magazine ads, sides of busses, etc. It made sense to bring that same “Spokesblob” to the sidewalk since the masses were already use to them. It was a subtle enough message to be well-accepted by every passerby.

We had a wonderful experience working with HMH Agency on this campaign. They have offices in both Charlotte, NC & Portland, OR so our communication flowed effortlessly. We were honored that they wanted to bring our Clean Graffiti to their clients and truly use the medium as a communication tool.
Portland & Vancouver made the perfect canvas for our work with Clean Graffiti. The climate, as well as the eco-friendly mentality of the West Coast, made Portland a new market for #thesavageway. We saw endless opportunities to use our creative, out-of-the-box advertising medium.
MORE ON OUR TRIP
Yes, we were in town for work, but we definitely made time to explore and enjoy the beauty that is Oregon and Washington. A few of the highlights included:
Torrie & Paula of #thesavageway having an afternoon lunch in Belltown, Seattle, WA.
Some of our West Coast Clean Graffiti Tour Adventures in Portland, OR & Seatlle, WA. #thesavageway
Portland, OR & Seattle, WA are simply gorgeous! #thesavageway
We are obsessed with the West Coast: l to r (Portland Sign, Clean Graffiit for Trimet, Torrie doing some yoga on Cannon Beach, Vtopia Cheese Board *all vegan)
Clean Graffiti allows us to travel and see so many amazing places, like Portland, Vancouver & Seattle. #thesavageway
It is an amazing feeling to know that something we created, Clean Graffiti, is not only fueling our business on the East Coast, but we now have a presence on the other side of the nation. We are actively seeking clients in the Portland area and are open and excited for the next work trip we take to the West Coast.

What does your business promote? When we had the chance to do a Clean Graffiti campaign with local Charlotte yoga studio, Yoga One, they knew exactly what they wanted to put out into the world; Love one another. Such a simple, yet profound statement.

We placed 12 Clean Graffiti spots around their two studios, located in Plaza Midwood and the newly opened studio in Dilworth. Using a play on their logo, as well as the phrase that represents the lifeline of their wellness practice, Yoga One was able to connect with the public in a subtle, relatable way. We received several Instagram messages from people who spotted a Clean Graffiti spot and snapped a pic.
