NoDa Canteen Now Open with Huge Moss Wall

NoDa Canteen Now Open with Huge Moss Wall

NoDa Canteen is now open at Camp North End (1824 Statesville Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206). This tropical haven is the perfect addition to the area (and a mile from our studio!!). Canteen offers a gorgeous space that co-founders Scott Lindsley & Joey Hewell designed themselves to resemble both their other location, NoDa Company Store, and the jungle vibes of Bali, Roatán.

Torrie and I have known Scott & Joey for what seems like years now. Back when we did social media, we managed the NoDa Neighborhood Instagram and we able to feature all of the great work these two humans do for our city – Farmers Markets, opening the NoDa Company Store, Free Food Sundays and now NoDa Canteen! When they called and wanted a green wall we knew exactly what to make. Our lead Moss Artist, Ashley Schewzyk, put so much love and attention on this beauty.

Our green art is part of a floating wall, 15′ wide x 5 ‘h, flanked by gorgeous coral paint. We are OBSESSED with how this piece turned out. The lush ferns, foliage, mosses, mushrooms – all preserved mind you – are simply stunning. Check out this awesome reel from opening night.

Live Outside the Lines: Warp + Weft Clean Graffiti

Live Outside the Lines: Warp + Weft Clean Graffiti

Optimist Park Apartment Complex is Now Pre-Leasing

The light rail opening up in NoDa and surrounding neighborhoods has been huge for growth in the north side of the city. There has been a boom in restaurants, small businesses and apartment complexes opening up. One of these apartments is Alta Warp + Weft, located at 2120 N Brevard St. This new development is a great place to live if you’re looking to live close to Uptown and in walking distance to all that Optimist Park, Belmont and NoDa have to offer.

We were recently hired to help them spread the word in these walkable neighborhoods and execute a Clean Graffiti campaign. Warp + Weft is located just steps off of the light rail and we thought it would be fun to create a message that highlighted that fact but also encompassed the fun and artsy vibe that Warp + Weft is creating – “Live Outside the Lines.”

We put our eco-friendly messages around the city of Charlotte in popular areas. The goal is for passersby to have the opportunity to become aware of this new development. Take a look at the reverse graffiti campaign.

Clean Graffiti is created by #thesavageway with a specialized stencil, pressure washer and dirty concrete.

We usually recommend brands use our medium to help generate brand awareness. We become a part of the overall marketing mix and act as an unexpected support system on the streets. Clean Graffiti is something that people see, smile and want to put on their social media channels – creating that third party content that marketers can not always pay for. This was a fun campaign for us and we look forward to working with more companies like Alta Warp + Weft who understand you can have fun, be creative and use Clean Graffiti to help develop awareness around the brand.

Clean Graffiti Artist Collaboration for Novel NoDa

We just created an awesome Clean Graffiti campaign for Novel NoDa (seriously, we love it). Often we recommend putting a more artistic message down when using Clean Graffiti. Make it art. Make it pretty. Make the brand more subtle (You know, brought to you by XYZ company). Over our six years of being in business, we have found that the consumer absorbs a message like this so much better. It’s already unexpected to be on the sidewalk and in our world of third party social media content, frankly you should push for something fun, cool, witty or “Instagrammable” to represent your brand.

Kudos to Novel NoDa, Charlotte’s luxury apartment complex in the historic arts district of NoDa, for giving us the space to be creative and take their message to the next level. We partnered with the insanely talented local Charlotte artist, Kyle Mosher, to create this one-of-a-kind reverse graffiti message.

Novel NoDa’s Clean Graffiti looks great on the sidewalks of the NoDa & Plaza Midwood neighborhoods.

As an apartment complex in the NoDa neighborhood, Novel NoDa has embraced the arts community. From murals, interior decor, events, Clean Graffiti, and so much more – they believe in supporting art and artists. So we decided to recreate this love again – but on the sidewalk (just using water).

The Clean Graffiti message states “Believe in Art.” How rad is that?! With Kyle’s signature style added into the design, we have to say that this might be one of our favorite messages to date. It comes full circle to the brand because of their huge tie to the arts community. In fact, Kyle is running a contest to give away even MORE custom art. Check out his Instagram post to see the details on how posting a picture of the Clean Graffiti could snag a hand signed print of your choosing.

We are obsessed with this design from Kyle and the message to “Believe in Art”…. because clearly we do and we want everyone to see beauty everywhere.????????????

#CLTFreeWorkout Hits Charlotte Sidewalks

We’ve partnered with OrthoCarolina on a number of projects over the years. You may remember our motivational running messages, Panthers football campaign and #WalkCLT in Plaza Midwood. However, our latest initiative, #CLTFreeWorkout, is definitely one of the most interactive and community building campaigns that we’ve ever created.

#CLTFreeWorkout is a Clean Graffiti campaign that utilizes the sidewalks to guide a series of FREE body-weight exercises in six different areas of town. Those areas include Sedgefield, NoDa, Dilworth, West Charlotte, Cherry and Wilmore. Click here for maps.

OrthoCarolina is a huge proponent of building community and promoting health & wellness in the greater Charlotte area. When we approached the Vice President of Marketing, Blair Primis, with an idea to create pop-up style workout stations, he lit up in excitement.

“I thought the idea was brilliant,” said Primis, “and my immediate response was that we will make this happen. Done.”

We worked with OrthoCarolina physician, Aaron Hewitt, to create safe, easy-to-learn exercises that could be turned into a full body workout. The exercises include Air Squats, Arm Circles, Push-ups, Lunges, Jumping Jacks & Plank – repeat 5x. Instructional videos can be found here on www.cltfreeworkout.com.

One of the greatest elements of #CLTFreeWorkout is that we created a hashtag with the campaign. Now, whenever people are out doing the workout (whether they planned it or they stumbled upon it on a daily run), they can post a picture to social media and use #CLTFreeWorkout. We are able to track & see how many people are interacting with this healthy initiative.

Now that the campaign is launched, our client is seeing the results. “We’re thrilled,” said Primis. “The community has embraced it and are out there getting the workouts in. So cool to see.”

You can check out more coverage from our awesome city-wide campaign in the Charlotte Observer article, Charlotte Agenda feature, Charlotte Five coverage or this news clip from WCNC. Hopefully we will see this awesome initiative in other cities soon!

Clean Graffiti for Open Streets 704 Event

Clean Graffiti for Open Streets 704 Event

On May 1, 2016, the City of Charlotte will open the city streets from NoDa to Memorial Stadium so that people can play, run, sing, play music and dance in the streets. That’s right – no cars, no worries.

Open Streets 704 “aims to build a better, healthier, connected community by encouraging Charlotte and Mecklenburg area residents to walk, bicycle, and experience the city together in a way that’s just not possible in a car.” Our friends at Well-Run Media have been working hard to spread the word about this inaugural Charlotte initiative. We were lucky enough to once again partner with DC and his wonderful team along with the Mecklenburg County Parks & Recreation Department for another round of Clean Graffiti.
