Lululemon Clean Graffiti by #thesavageway.
In late December 2016, we launched the first Lululemon Clean Graffiti campaign in the country. Our eco-friendly, outdoor messaging was the perfect fit to spread the word about “The Air Out There” outdoor running campaign.
Lululemon is a major global company that you may be familiar with – Yoga pants anyone? But Lululemon is also a luxury apparel brand that is dedicated to supporting and manifesting lifestyles for men and women while also building a community with like minded individuals.
Our partnership with Lululemon grew out of a desire for us to “pave the way” into a new year with a fresh, out of the box campaign. Enter Clean Graffiti. Lululemon wanted to reach out to the collective runners of Charlotte who run to feel grounded and leave a workout feeling inspired.
This community mindset can be found in their core principles, or their Manifesto (which you can read on each and every bag). If you’ve never seen it, here it is.

The Lululemon Manifesto.
“The conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time, choose a positive thought.”
“Love, dance, sing, floss and travel.”
“A daily hit of athletic-induced endorphins gives you the power to make better decisions, helps you be at peace with yourself, and offsets stress.”
Seriously, they are speaking the language of #thesavageway!! We were blown away at how much our missions aligned. Choosing to partner on a reverse graffiti promotion was a no-brainer for us.

Now onto the Clean Graffiti campaign. Since Lululemon’s goal was to encourage runners to hit the sidewalks throughout the winter months, our partnership naturally turned to connecting the dots within the Charlotte community. We were able to link Lululemon with local run clubs and some of the awesome runners this city has to offer.
The Clean Graffiti went down throughout popular running areas in Charlotte, NC in correlation with the “The Air Out There” nationwide campaign. These spots encouraged runners to pause and reflect on how running can keep you grounded. Lululemon chose to target and show support to runners along the NoDa Brewing Run Club, Legion Brewing Run Club, Heist Brewery Run Route and a few in Dilworth & Southend. The Lululemon team even hosted a Silent Run in December at NoDa Run Club where they offered a Meditation Specialist pre-run and brought running swag for runners to embrace that chilly winer wind.

Love this inspirational message from Lululemon in Clean Graffiti. #thesavageway
Lululemon is doing some pretty awesome things in the community. Just take a look at some of the pictures tagged under the hashtag #TheAirOutThere on Instagram. As our partnership with Lululemon continues to grow, you’ll be sure to see more campaigns in the future. Until then, hit those sidewalks runners!

Meet #thesavageway: Torrie Savage & Paula Bartlett seeking the good on a job in Boston, MA.
Meet #thesavageway
We’ve been in business since 2012. In the early days we focused on social media execution/training along with PR for local Charlotte businesses. From Papi Queso, Heist Brewery and Libretto’s Pizzeria to AIR Aerial Fitness and Cruise Carts, our client list was diverse and successful. However, while we were representing our clients during the day, at night we were creating something new and different – Clean Graffiti (or a clean message on a dirty sidewalk).
As we developed our core eco-friendly service, Clean Graffiti, we deliberately created a shift in our business. We began opening up our time for more Clean Graffiti work and slowly wrapping up our social media consulting clients. This shift happened over a few years, but now we are in a place where the services of #thesavageway reflect our passions.

We still consult and guide local businesses from time to time, but we only accept a handful as clients. And the ones we choose to work with, we wholeheartedly believe in what they stand for as a company.
So what is #thesavageway?
We are a creative marketing agency. We seek clients who are willing to think big and entrust us with their message.
We cultivate creativity in nature. Whether it is dirt and concrete or moss and recycled wood, we find the beauty in the outdoors and turn it into a creative marketing campaign.
We are a lifestyle. Our outlook on life, the future, health, food and relationships – they all revolve around compassion and living colorfully. We seek the good in all things and desire for you to as well.
So hello! We’re Paula Bartlett (that’s me – I write this blog) and Torrie Savage. 2017 is going to be a great year and we hope that you follow along. Expect to see some fun reverse graffiti campaigns (across many cities), lots of yummy plant based food, dancing videos, laughter and other shenanigans. Oh and be sure to follow our Instagram page – that’s where all the fun really happens 🙂

Beer Quest is happening Saturday, November 19 at BB&T Ballpark. #thesavageway
All About Beer Magazine’s fall beer festival, Beer Quest, is going down this Saturday, November 19. Head to BB&T Ballpark (324 S. Mint St Charlotte, NC) for the VIP hour, 12-1pm, or General Admission from 1-5pm. It is sure to be a day full of delicious beers from 35 of the nation’s top breweries. More information on the event.
Beer Quest is a little different than your typical beer festival. Guests can either meander around the event to sample all the beers, or they can follow four distinct paths to enjoy their favorite styles of beer. These paths include Hoppy & Curious, Fizzy Yellow Greatness, The Dark Path and Not 4 n00bs. The four curated beer experiences can be seen here.
#thesavageway had the pleasure of executing some Clean Graffiti for Beer Quest to help promote the event on a local level. The spots went down in and around Uptown, Charlotte, NC. It was fun being able to create a design that incorporated elements of a comic strip, a video game and an action movie.

Join the quest this Saturday, November 19 at BB&T Ballpark. #thesavageway

Breaking into Virginia has always been a goal and a vision of #thesavageway expansion. We are honored that our first client in this new territory was Hampton Roads Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine located in Newport News.

Clean Graffiti in Newport News, VA by #thesavageway.
We were contracted by Hampton Roads Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine (HROSM) to promote wellness & physical activity through our Clean Graffiti services. We executed 10 spots that read “Keep Your Body in Motion” in the Newport News area of town. Newport News is a quaint area of Virginia with a ton of up and coming neighborhoods. We focused our reverse graffiti services around Port Warwick, City Center at Oyster Point, The Greenlands and Noland Trail.
“Clean Graffiti is new to the Hampton Roads community,” said April Weston, Director of Marketing & Public Relations for Hampton Roads Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. “We have had positive feedback from people of all ages; teens and adults who think the concept and idea is great. People having been taking pictures and sharing through social media and we truly believe that this will continue to grow as more and more people come across the “HROSM” mark around our city.”
Using a hashtag (like #HROSM) is a great way to encourage people to post and engage on social media. As people are walking on the sidewalks (already on their phones) and notice a Clean Graffiti spot, they can post and tag the photo.

A glimpse of the hashtag #HROSM and how we integrated social media into this Clean Graffiti campaign. #thesavageway

It’s Just Water – Clean Graffiti by #thesavageway for HROSM in Virginia.
Weston continued, “Our goal in utilizing Clean Graffiti was twofold. We wanted to expand our brand recognition and capture people’s attention through using a new form of advertising; something unique and catchy. At the same time, we wanted to meet people on a where they were- running trails, shopping areas, or walking with their family with an encouraging message.”
